Hello world. So this is my first blog everrrrrrrrrrrr. Thank you to my wonderful cashew for setting this up for me:) I am in Cumberland, MD right now and its pretty much like Lancaster except if you picture hicks everywhere, lots of road ramps and round abouts, trains blocking traffic and oh yea, the MOUNTAINS then thats prob the only difference. I was a tourist this weekend, yep, I took pictures in the mall parking lot of MOUNTAINS. I also walked through the 'historic' downtown and took more scenic pictures of MOUNTAINS and random Victorian architecture. Oh, I also met an almost 70 y/o guy named Jim who was sitting outside his assisted living facility, that would happen. He is my first true townie friend here. Says he lived here since 1944, was in Vietnam, showed me all his scars and asked if I wanted to see his 'place' --i.e. the lobby inside...there was an offer to check out his apartment...yea. The strip mall downtown is also madd old and I took a bunch of phone numbers down of restaurants and events being advertised, this city likes to party:) Also, a very old theatre is in town on the strip mall and I would like to see something there. There is also this hot dog shop which im dying to go to, just 1.65 for a specialty hot dog! HA....As for my buidling im living in, I believe the guy who lives down the hall is a high functioning person with aspergers. He likes to eat white potatoes for dinnner a lot, or an ENTIRE box of ziti noodles, likes to hold 2 min conversations, curse randomly and watch south park a lot and laugh extremely loud while he does it. He is also a pharmacist who has been unable to hold a job anywhere but the Martin's (Giant) down the street, prob cuz of his social awkwardness. This other guy who has a family stays here during the week and is a physicians assistant. He likes buying icecream at the creamery then buying extra cuz he feels like a hog and brings the extra to me! He is a retired air force guy and we have political discussions:) I was privileged to call the cops here on about 15 kids prob no older than 11 y/o. They thought it would be nice to throw rocks at the only car in the parking lot outside which was MINE at about 9:45pm, WHERE ARE THE PARENTS? I first went out and yelled at them then called the officer. That was fun. Cops are nice and he was kinda cute in an older middle aged sort of way. He actually knew what OT was which gave him more points. This morning I was also privileged to wittiness a kid of about the same age, 11 y/o, engaging in a fight with a construction cone outside. This was at 7 AM . Again, WHERE ARE THE PARENTS? I made 2 batches of rice crispies today tooooo. YUM. Right now I am listening to --no not Ben Folds-- but a TRAIN outside my building, yea dont worry it only comes about every 40 min. BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! Luckily we are re-locating to another building. Thank God. (well maybe G-D cuz this did used to be a synogogue, cashew, if you didnt know) and this also used to be a lutheran church.. OHHH and they have ghost tours on the scenic railroad tooo hopefully ill be able to catch one this summer!--not a ghost, the tour, but that wouldnt be the first time. oops. Here I thought I would get bored writing after 5 seconds and wrote for about 20min. This may work cashew. (everytime I refer to cashew I feel like I am C.S. Lewis in "the screwtape letters" writing to 'Screwtape'. But this is completely unrelated to that book, but if you havent read it you should. Gotta do my 2.25 dollars worth of laundry now, my insomnia has just begun! Hope all you OT's are enjoying your fieldwork! <3
